UtopiaFest – The best little festival in Texas
It is a Texas thing. And, I am not talking about cowboys and steers. I am talking about a music and camping festival located in a secluded part of the Texas hill county. It is called UtopiaFest. It is like no other.
UtopiaFest 2014 – Review in Photos
UtopiaFest is not your typical music festival. It’s held at the remote Four Sisters Ranch near the small town of Utopia, Texas (2 hours outside Austin). Attendance is capped at 2,000. There are two main stages with no overlapping performances. They book great national and local acts. You can camp for free and it’s BYOB.
The drive to the ranch is a true scenic pleasure. With so many rolling hills lush with green it’s easy to forget about any worries you may have left behind. The festival is in a small valley surrounded by hills and big open skies.
UtopiaFest 2014 – Activities
UtopiaFest has just the right type of activities: Bags & horseshoes, kickball, bike rides, yoga, arts & crafts, disc golf, hiking and many others.
UtopiaFest – Kid Friendly
Hey, just because you have kids doesn’t mean your life is over. UtopiaFest is family friendly. Your cool kids will love it as much as you do.
UtopiaFest 2014 – Art & Fun Stuff
You get art installations to enjoy. My favorite ones are interactive where you can make your mark.
UtopiaFest 2014 – The people
You will see many different types of people along with a broad range of age groups (most are in their 20’s). The main thing that connects everyone is the desire to hear good music in a beautiful place.
UtopiaFest 2014 – The Potty Situation
We all have to go. Nice to report that the bathrooms were clean and stock with TP. When you are done you get some hand sanitizer.
UtopiaFest 2014 – Lineup
The UtopiaFest lineup was excellent for such a small festival. My personal favorites were Sucka Please, Holiday Mountain, Wild Child, Kishi Bashi, Warpaint and Cold War Kids.

UtopiaFest 2014 – Rain and Mud
The rain came. It was a downpour. Everyone seemed ready for it. It didn’t stop the fun. Volunteers laid down the hay and life went on.
UtopiaFest 2014 – Keep Utopia Beautiful
Last but not least a big shout out to Keep Utopia Beautiful. The organization Keep Utopia Beautiful is one of the smallest affiliates of Keep America Beautiful. Their volunteers were on hand to bag-away the recyclables. It is nice to go green and their efforts were greatly appreciated.
